MK3 Radio wiring

Hey all, im sorry if this has been asked before but i've kinda got a problem.
I've taken out my old ford stereo from my 1991 mk3 fiesta and am trying to replace it with a goodmans stereo. I have rewired the speakers no problems but I'm nor sure what to do with the other wires as they're not colour coded with my new stereo!
Could someone please tell me what each wire is in relation to it's colour or a diagram would be cool too.

Many thanks

Ric

Simple answer , get to halfords and buy an adapter haness :-) matches up the ford wires to the ISO standard that your goodmans has.

£11 from memory

Cheers mate, but i'd rather do it without an adapter.

Is there anywhere that has a wiring diagram?

I just noticed something.

The mk3 fiesta FAQ: http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=888834&sid=7ad5ba31956aee035486ea50b08abe62
Says this:
Red = permanent live (to headunit Yellow)
Yellow = ignition/accessory live (to headunit Red)
Brown = earth (to headunit Black)
Yellow/Grey = lights-on live (no connection to headunit)

But you said:
red = live

yellow = perm live

black or brown = earth

blue = remote on

Can someone please confirm which one is the correct combination.

Cheers

Okay my mistake i've noticed now. The only problem i've got left is that I have a large brown wire that I assume is the earth wire but I have a small brown wire. I believe it is the remote but my stereo does not have a remote wire, whilst my amp does :-?

Any help would be much appreciated

there should be a blue wire on the ford harness, run that to your amp,

sorry... the red is perm live on ford car and yellow is perm on stereo, this is what you need to keep its memory ie.. stations/time, and if u have a security flashing light it will keep it flashin when the ignition is off.

Okay cheers mate, thing is i don't seem to have a blue wire on the ford harness :-?

I'll double check later though.

What does it actually do when connected to the amp?

Cheers

the remote wire powers your amp when the head unit is switched on, when the head unit is switched off it turns your amp off.

Okay this is really annoying me now.
I've setup the stereo and got everything powered up but the rear speaker connections don't work! I can use the rear phono connectors that go to the amp but they produce a very quiet sound and I wanted to connect the speakers to the head unit.

Now is that spare small brown wire an earth wire for the chassis of teh head unit?

Or is there another reason the rear speaker connections don't work?

Thanks in advance
